In 1999, Kathy stepped into her career as a Registered Massage Therapist. She enjoyed learning and growing in her previous work environments, which consisted of Pharmacy Assistant & Management, Retail Management (music), and Personal Training. Her passion for natural healing, education and helping people reach their goals guided her to Massage Therapy.
Early in her career she recognized the connection between mental and emotional stress and how trauma can be “stored” in the physical body, creating patterns of pain and poor health and mobility of the muscles and fascia.
This connection lead to studying and becoming certified in other modalities that she uses in conjunction with massage therapy and independently.
Essential Oil Applications, Spiritual Psychology and Reiki are just a few of her favourite modalities to help people relieve and manage
chronic Stress, Pain, and Anxiety.
Kathy brings knowledge, kindness, compassion and a spiritual aspect to her practice. She is intuitive and can easily “tap” into the unspoken information of what is happening in the body, mind and spirit. However she is just as passionate and respectful of science and tangible information. All aspects are required to be able to create an effective treatment plan that helps a client attain their physical health goals.
“Healing science with compassionate touch”
Melanie is different from other massage therapists.
She will take the time to investigate and assess your pain, tension or condition so that your massage therapy treatment will help you feel your best.
Melanie can provide you with as much or as little deep tissue pressure as you need and enjoy. She enjoys making your therapeutic treatment as relaxing as possible, so you leave the treatment feeling refreshed.
Melanie will keep her focus on you, her client, so you will feel cared for and pampered as well as healing your pain, tension or condition.
Melanie will offer you advice to help further at home with exercises and self-care tips.
She also uses appropriate use of heat and cold therapy to ensure your muscles are not left sore or overly tender.
If you wish, Melanie can use essential oils that can help you further with your condition or pain and tension.
Melanie will book any and all clients and does not discriminate.
Melanie is no stranger to hard work. She has been a healthcare professional since 1994.
Melanie graduated with distinction from TriOS College in Hamilton, Ontario. She is also certified in Thai massage and Thai foot reflexology. She is a massage tutor and sits on the PAC for massage therapy education.
“I know what it is like to work long hours, to push myself, leading to chronic pain and fatigue. I know how hard we all work and my journey has taught me about the importance of self-care.”
Melanie’s love for science and strong work ethic built her a successful career in nuclear medicine pharmacy. She has taken that same focus and drive and applied into becoming a massage therapist.
When Melanie is not working, she can be found hiking the Bruce trail or baking fun recipes at home.
